There’s a beautiful world to discover underwater when diving, whether you are free diving without a breathing apparatus or scuba diving. Whichever method you choose, it’s important to do so safely to prevent ear damage.

One of the common injuries divers suffer from is Ear Barotrauma - a type of ear damage caused by the difference of pressure in the inner and middle ear. Some types of Ear Barotrauma include ruptured parts of your ear that can lead to bleeding, pain, dizziness, and vertigo.

To prevent this, divers are taught to equalize the pressure between the inside of their ears with the underwater environment.

If you’re not able to equalize properly, this could lead to serious ear injuries and could potentially cause permanent ear damage.

If you’re already suffering from an ear-related problem, seek professional medical advice before your next dive. Call 989-TEST to find out how we can help.
